My book covers a period of of 55 years of my life in the USSR prior to my immigration to the USA in 1979. It describes my childhood in the heart of Ukraine, my military service during World War II and my post-war life in Central Asia and Moscow. I am a witness of lawlessness of Soviet (Red) Army in regard to lower ranks; criminal treatment of soldiers, both healthy and sick; humiliation of women in the military, predisposing barbaric treatment of female civilians in occupied Germany; rampant Army and prevalent among my fellow citizens anti-Semitism - willing Nazi collaborators in the murder of the Jews. My despise of Soviet reality since childhood is the cause that I had to pass through five medical schools with obligation to work in remote parts of Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan in order to obtain my physician’s diploma. My inadmissibility that transformed into hatred of the country with such social order awakened my desire to emigrate at first opportunity. I have no desire to financially benefit from this book.
